Discover Genius Project V8.0 release
Genius Project 8.0 has a list of new features including:
- New user interface with a centralized “Create” button
- Editable multi-project Gantt chart
- Project creation without a wizard
- Ability to import resources, unavailability and public holidays from a csv file
- New additional field types for computed and values range (with a slider)
- Scheduled view export can now also be done daily, weekly or monthly
- Additional fields defined for the resource document automatically propagated to "My profile"

- New "Generic documents – Configurable view" to display the additional fields created for generic document types

A new user-centered interface
Genius Project’s user interface got a makeover.
The main menu is now located on the left-hand side creating a clean, streamlined aesthetic. To simplify navigation, each user will only see the menu items for which they have access to. For example, if a user only has access to timesheets, this will be the only item in their menu panel.
Editable multi-project Gantt Chart
The detailed multi-project Gantt Chart of the project portfolio (when generated with tasks and deliverables) can now be edited as in the Projects database. Upon saving, the Gantt charts of the included projects will be synchronized in the background.
Project creation without a wizard
The option to create a project description without a wizard has been restored.
Creating a project without the wizard is much quicker as the only required information is the project title and mandatory fields. Conversely, the wizard takes you step-by-step to fill out all of the important project information.
Ability to import resources, unavailability and public holidays
Resources, unavailability and public holiday documents can be imported into the Resources database directly from csv files. The action is completed in the general setup view of the Resources database. Be sure to check the documentation for the correct format of each file.
New additional field types
In forms, you now have the opportunity tp add custom fields in project documents with computed and value ranges.
Computed fields calculate the value based on the contents of other customized fields. The value range fields are determined with a slider, where the parameters of the range are determined by you.
In the setup of each database:
Scheduled export view (daily, weekly, monthly)
There are now more scheduling options for export view.
For each scheduled export of a view, it is now possible to specify if it must be done daily, weekly or monthly. If it is weekly or monthly, you can then specify the days when it will be generated. For example, if the export is scheduled weekly, you can choose to have the report generated on Wednesdays and Fridays. If it’s scheduled monthly, you can have the report generated on the 1st and 15th of each month.
In the setup of the Portfolio:
Additional fields defined for the Resource document automatically propagated
The additional fields defined for the Resource document in the Resources database will now automatically be propagated into the Resource document in the Projects database. This is created once the resource is published, and is accessed through the “My profile” link in the drop-down menu of the user name.
Possibility to define more coloration rules
Users can now have up to 8 colour codes in configurable views, for more detailed organization of project information.
In configurable views:
Team leaders can now be fetched from assignment documents
The team leaders and their members are stored in the Assignment document and are now displayed in the Assignments configurable view.
New resources can login faster after creation
Previously, in SaaS environments, new resources had to wait up to 30 minutes before being able to log in. We’ve remedied this in the new version, to enable the immediate participation of new resources.

In the “Generic Documents - Configurable View”, we can see all types of generic documents and their subsequent additional fields.
Automatic time recording of unavailabilities
Timesheets will be automatically populated with resource unavailabilities once they are approved.

Two-stage timesheet approval
It is now possible to have two stages of approval for timesheets. In the first stage, project leaders approve the details line by line. If and once those are approved, the timesheet are passed on to the second stage, to be approved by team leaders.
